I enjoy fermenting but don't do it nearly enough. Hoping for a bigger garden this year. I still haven't settled in since moving... being in the city there were so many farmers markets, etc. Now being in a more rural area there are fewer. Seems a bit backward!

I hope you can grow many things in your this year Emma! I add stuff I've grown in to my ferments, but I have had little success with cabbages... however the beetroot and French beans grows good and that can go in. Herbs work too. Tomatoes are my favourite to ferment in brine when September rolls around.

As for the farmers markets, yes, it does seem a bit odd, but I guess city is where the people are. You could do a big batch of ferment - I've heard it can last 6 months or longer if stored correctly.

Making ferments was personal project #2 for me this year after growing mushrooms at home - they will be ready in the next few days so your article has come at the perfect time! Thanks Daniel

If you have gone through all the painstaking procedure for growing mushrooms, fermentation will be a doddle for you Tom! I look forward to hearing what you make :)
